MCIT Issues 3G License to Roshan Company

There is no doubt that information and communication technologies play a fundamental role in current conditions for growth and development in all sectors of human life.
Fortunately, today, in our country, telecommunications and information technology can be applied in economic, health, education, and management and administration sectors.
To sign the agreement a media conference was held on Saturday, September 22, 2012, at Ministry of Communication & IT with the Participation of H.E. Eng. Amirzai Sangin Minster of Communication & IT, leadership of MCIT and H.E Hazrat Umar Zakhilwal Minister of Finance,  H.E.Rahimullah Ghalib Minister of Justice,H.E. Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal Minister of Economy , high level government officials along with Roshan Telecommunication company,  and representatives of media.

speaking about the importance of telecommunication and IT, specially the role of 3G H.E. Amirzai Sangin said We are pleased taking another step toward the progress and happiness of the Afghan people, we have issued the first and second 3G license to Etisalat and MTN Companies so far in value of 50$ million, to provide the better and high speed internet services to our people now we are issuing the third 3G license to Roshan company in value of $ 25 million. We are intended to increase the internet users up to 50% of population in next two years. Minister Sangin Said: “to transfer Afghanistan    into information society and e-government. implementing of this advanced technology is necessary and provides great facilities to the residents of the country. 3G technology provides fast internet services, images, and video and voice communications for the telecommunications’ subscribers”.
Then H. E. Umar Zakhil Wal minister of finance congratulating MCIT for this action said to have the 3G technology is a great achievement of MCIT. This will cause competition in telecommunication market.
Based on a previous decision of the Committee of Ministers on Telecom, Roshan Telecommunication Company is willing to pay $ 25 million dollars to obtain the 3G license.
Finally, the agreement was signed between MCIT and Roshan telecommunication Company.
