H.E. Amirzai Sangin Heads Afghan Delegation at WSIS Forum 2012 in Geneva
H.E. Amirzai Sangin Minister of Communication and Information Technology who led a high profile delegation returned to the country May 20th after participation in the world conference of Information Society, which was held in Geneva.
The conference, which was held in Geneva on 14 May 2012, was attended by Mr. Hamadan Tory president of ITU, Ministers of Communications, profiles and relevant representatives of 140 countries. The meeting was opened with Mr. Tory speech.
Minister of Communication and Information Technology attended the round table of ministries of communication society and gave detailed information participants about achievements, performances what were done in three past years and plans for next three years. Ministers of Communications shared their ideas about fiber security, establishing of better and symphonic policy. The delegation also participated the meeting named World’s Future Plans for digital television.
At second day, during the conference were discussed the 11 issues of Tunis Conference that had been held in 2005 and the member countries were obliged to implement their policies and projects till the end of 2015. On the same day Minister of MCIT visited the Botil Company and had a meeting with head of radio division of ITU.
At the third day of itinerary minister of MCIT attended the conference titled “ICT and reconstruction of developing countries”. Afghanistan was mentioned as an instance. Participant of the conference stressed to find the way for strengthening economy of ruined countries by using ICT sector. Then minister of MCIT attended the meeting particularized for Afghanistan the theme of which was “positive effects of information technology on Afghanistan’s economy”.
At the last day of the conference high ranking delegation of Afghanistan led by H.E. Sangin, who participated at a workshop that was about effect of development of information technology for improving the economy of Afghanistan. Later H.E. Sangin met the head of ITU and discussed Satellite project of Afghanistan in detail.
The meeting ended on May 18th 2012.
