Ministry of communication and information technology received GSM Award

Today in a ceremony held in Qasri Marmari for the celebration of the receipt of the GSMA Award by the Ministry of Communications and IT on behalf of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan from the GSM Association for the year 2011, where second vice president of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mr. Karim khalili, cabinet ministers, high rank government officials, ambassadors, representatives of privet companies and banks and other important guests, the government celebrated this historic achievement.

Meeting started with a recitation of few verses from Holy Quran followed by National Anthem.

The Technical Deputy minister of ministry of communication and information technology  Mr. Baryali Hassam welcomed the guests and gave short brief about the achievement and event.

Afterwards second vice president of Islamic republic of Afghanistan Mr. Karim khalili presented his gratitude to Mr. Amirzai Sangin, minister of communications information technology and to all people of Afghanistan; he added “Our country has achieved great development in the field of telecommunication in the past 9 years worth to mention expansion of telecommunication and internet service to the rural areas of the country, fiber optic and the initiation of electronic ID card system; Our telecom infrastructure is at par with the neighboring countries in an some cases we are better then them and this has been achieved in such a short period of time.”

Government of Afghanistan with all the hurdles and problem has big achievement by securing the GSMA award 2011 that goes to the Afghan people.

Mr. Vice President added “With the ICT we can reduce the corruption and improve the efficiency of our day to day activities and can speed-up the pace of development and reconstruction of our country; I want the media to broadcast not only the negative points but also the positive points and show the achievements and activities of the government such as the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.”


Later Mr. Amirzai Sangin Minister of Communication and Information Technology said “This honor is for the presidency of Islamic republic of Afghanistan, member of cabinet, senators, to the staff in the ministry and to the telecom privet sector; I congratulate the people of Afghanistan for this award.

The people of Afghanistan has embraced the new technology; currently more than one lack personal are working in different fields of telecommunication, soon we will introduce 3G.”

Afterwards Mr. Aminaullah Chancellor of Kabul University has presented his gratitude to Minister Sangin on behalf of the Academy of the country.

At the end Mr. Qurban Haqju chairman Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce has congratulated Minister Sangin on behalf of privet sectors for this achievement he added “Ministry of Communication and Information Technology is the only ministry which has zero history of complaints being registered by the private sector against the ministry policies or doings, I hope that other sectors will also implement the policies they way this ministry has done it.”
