Ministry of Communications and Information Technology signs memorandum of cooperation with the Ministry of Economy

Shahzad Aryobee Minister of Communications and Information Technology on the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of Ministers under the chairmanship of H.E.Dr. Abdullah Abdullah the Chief Executive officer of the country, signed a memorandum of cooperation with Dr. Mustafa Mastour Minister of Economy in order to increase transparency and accountability in infrastructure projects on Monday, February 25, 2019

The purpose of this Memorandum is to increase the transparency and accountability in Afghanistan's infrastructure projects.

Based on the agreement, in addition to the Ministry of Communications, 7 ministries and independent institutions carry out the following activities:

  1. Dissemination of information on infrastructure projects based on international standards
  2. Sharing the people in infrastructure projects through the dissemination of information
  3. Collaboration with the CAST Research Team in the context of surveying infrastructure projects
  4. Reforms in the mechanisms for implementing infrastructure projects based on the findings of the investigative reports of the institutions

In the case of CAST should be said, the Transparency Initiative is a global, non-profit and independent initiative that works along with the government, the private sector and civil society around the world in order to get a better value from investing in infrastructure projects with increased transparency and accountability in this sector.

The Afghan government, based on the decision of the Council of Ministers, joined the initiative in May 2014 through the Ministry of Economy and officially commenced its work in mid-2017.
