Ministry of Communications & IT (MCIT) is committed to Reform and Fight against Corruption, says: “Abdul-Razaq Vahidi”
On 8th September 2015,a delegation representing the “Civic Trend on Fight Against Corruption” met his Excellency Mr. Razaq Vahidi the Minister of Communication and Information Technology to share the Trend’s findings, indicators and solutions and to help the MCIT Leadership fight more effectively against corruption of any kind at MCIT. Starting the meeting, Mrs. Sima Ghani, Head of the well-known Civic Trend introduced members of the delegation, and briefed the Minister regarding the philosophy, structure and objectives of her group.
She said: “Civic Trend for fight on corruption is a volunteer civil society group comprised of some reputable civil activists coming from different backgrounds. We work throughout 25 provinces having 150 volunteer membership of Afghans from Kabul and provinces. The group’s main objective is to institutionalize a culture of anti-corruption among the Afghan citizens and also, provide government and non-government agencies with mechanisms and ways to better fight corruption in all its kind and forms. In fact, we work as a public pressure group.”
Talking about the activities and achievements of the group she explained: “We have already made our recommendations in accordance with the 100 days plan of the national unity government, and have submitted them to all relevant government agencies, and will be waiting to witness stronger policy and management reforms by the government entities including the MCIT.”
Mr. Razaq Vahidi welcomed the team and appreciated their invaluable efforts and commitments. He called them the “responsible citizens of Afghanistan” and promised to remain committed to the philosophy and recommendations of the Trend. Referring to key areas of focus by the group, Mr. Vahidi informed them about the very latest initiatives and policies aimed at improving the governance, management and increased transparency within Afghanistan Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (ATRA), Afghan-Sat and National Fiber Optic Network. In addition, he briefed them on some other areas of MCIT plans such as E-Governance, regional connectivity and upgrading of Internet services.
He also provided details about a press conference where he and H.E Ahmad Zia Masood had announced the launch of E-Governance which in his opinion, will help the public and private sectors to performance, service delivery and transparency. He added: “Today, we, all the government authorities agreed on operationalizing a unified platform for inter-Ministerial electronic communications and transactions which will undoubtedly add speed to the day to day operations of the government departments and will decrease corruption automatically.”
In the end, both the parties emphasized on the need for creating and maintaining systematic communication and cooperation in order to jointly fight against administrative and financial corruption, and once again, Mr. Vahidi, thanked the Group for their constructive initiative and reaffirmed his team’s strong commitment towards administrative reform and fight against corruptions at MCIT.
