MCIT holds KITEX 2 in partnership with Private Sector

Second Kabul IT Exhibition held by Afghan Expo, sponsored by Salaam and supported by MCIT. The Exhibition was inaugurated by senior Afghan government official including MCIT’s leadership, the senior adviser of the president for Infrastructure, Technology and Human Resource Development, Dr. Hamayoon Qayumi, Mr. Sattar Murad, the Minister of Economics, the Minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Martyrs and Disabled, the representative of the  private sector, civil society representatives and mass media.
H. E. Abdulrazaq Vahidi minister of Communications and Information Technology who was opening the Exhibition said that this was the indicator of strong and sustainable partnership between MCIT and the Private sector which is also  one of the key programs of the National Unity Government(NUG).
Minister of Communication added: “Technology has significant role in social, cultural and economic development, no one can ignore this. despite late, fortunately, comparing to other countries of the region, Afghanistan has traversed the path of development hastily and actively.” He also mentioned that MCIT in its new programs has concentrated on entrepreneurship in ICT growth aimed at promoting innovation and creativity and job oriented skills in ICT sector and also focusing on conducting exhibitions and academic researches and conferences as an area of priorities of the organization.
Dr. Hamayoon Qayumi also spoke at the ceremony. He said that: “21st century is the century of information technology and the ICT has played a very significant role for socio-economic development of the world. for instance, only the Internet of Things(IOTs) has generated more than 19 billion US Dollars for the world which is a huge amount.”
 According to Mr. Qayumi, development of a country in ICT is highly dependent to the human resource, professional skills and innovation of the youth. He also appreciated MCIT’s initiatives and commitment towards capacity building and infrastructure growth in ICT sector.
Mr. Sattar Murad, the Economics Minister called the exhibition valuable adding that the impact of IT on economic growth is noticeable. He added that: “Today information technology has eminent position in human life and covers all aspect of livelihood and has created extraordinary impacts”
In his speech, the Member of Parliament Mr. Abdulqader Qalatwal also elaborated on the importance of IT in human’s life. He said: “ that in the last two decades Afghanistan has witnessed a dramatic growth in this area. In order to introduce improvements, holding such exhibitions are valuable and I on behalf of the Parliament, appreciated the hard work of MCIT.”
