Afghanistan is ready to implement the project of connecting China through Afghanistan to the Caspian Sea

Mohammad Fahim Hashimi acting minister of Communications and Information Technology today met with Mr. Ovezov Hoja the Ambassador of Turkmenistan on Wednesday, July 3, 2019.
The meeting focused on bilateral ties and discussion over the regional connectivity, development of the fiber optic network and implementation of the CATA project.
The Turkmen ambassador said that his country will soon hold a global conference on investment in the Caspian Sea, as well as to share its official view with the government of Afghanistan about the CATA project in the near future.
Minister Mohammad Fahim Hashimi while welcoming the ambassador said that Afghanistan is ready for implement of this important project.
He mentioned that Turkmenistan needs to share the necessary information about Turkmenistan’s preparation so that on one hand it will cause development of fiber optics and regional interconnections, and on the other hand Afghanistan as a Central Asia data Transit center from Central Asia to Eastern Asia will earn huge revenues.
The connection of China through Afghanistan with the Caspian Sea Fiber Cable is important not only for Afghanistan's revenues, but also for decreasing prices, strengthening Afghanistan's data and improving the quality of the country's telecommunication services.
