Salaam GSM/3G and DSL services Inaugurate in Herat Province
Minister of Communications & Information Technology (MCIT) H. E. Amirzai Sangin leading a delegation visited Herat province on Sunday February 16th 2014.
In this visit Minister Amirzai Sangin inaugurated three (Afghan Telecom Salaam Network, Afghan Telecom DSL) projects in Herat province and also Afghan Telecom Digital telephone with 12000 lines in Jebrayel district of that province.
H. E. Amirzai Sangin along with his board attended the ceremony, which was held on this occasion and faced warm welcome by the officials and people of Herat province,
First the governor of Herat province Mr. Fazlullah Wahidi welcoming the guests and said: it is the place of pleasure to inaugurate internet and communication projects under the direction of H. E. Amirzai Sangin in our historical province, without doubt these projects are very important for the people of Herat and it will bring vital positive changes in the life of the population.
Then H. E. Sangin appreciated warm welcome of the people and expressed his pleasure saying I am honored to be in this historic city of Afghanistan.
Minister Sangin briefly highlighted the growth of telecommunications and IT throughout the country and said: the sector of Communications and IT have basic role and to date it has grown considerably in the past ten years. He added there are 20 million telephone subscribers and over two and a half billion dollars investments in the filled of Telecommunications and Information Technology in our country and the large number of populations are provided direct and indirect jobs. He said: annually we deliver over 200 million dollars income to the state treasury. He said: our presence today in the historic city of Herat is officially to inaugurate and put in operation three major (Afghan Telecom Salaam, Digital telephone with 12000 lines and Afghan Telecom DSL) projects. He said with the opening of these projects the citizens of Herat will have access to better IT and Internet services with reasonable price.
He also mentioned that Afghan Telecom has invested 65 million dollars for Salaam GSM and3G network.
Then the member of Herat provincial council Mrs. Fatemi Jafari welcomed the Minister Sangin and his companions she said I appreciate the development made in the field of Communications and IT and noted these projects are very important for the people of Herat and provincial administration.
