President Ashraf Ghani’s Special Representative Meet MCIT-Leadership
Afghanistan president Ashraf Ghani’s Special representative for reforms and good governance Ahmad Zia Masood met and talked with leadership and head of directorates of Ministry of Communication & Information Technology (MCIT) in a meeting held on Sunday 18th January 2015.
At the beginning acting and deputy technical Minister of MCIT Eng. Baryalay Hassam welcomed the guests and presented brief information about the mission and vision of MCIT, he said: that Telecommunication and Information Technology sector is important and vital part of a country. The purports and nature of this vital role is folded not merely in its sectorial services, but it extremely impacts on social-economic live of various sectors, which is deeply perceived in our country. He said MCIT always tries to provide IT, Communication, Internet and Post better services with reasonable prices to the people of Afghanistan.
Eng. Hassam stressed that the main goal of MCIT is transforming Afghanistan into an information society in accordance the Laws of the country.
Eng. Hassam said: that MCIT has achieved howling successes over last 13 years, we started from zero, now due to honest struggle, proper plans and effective strategies we succeed to bring 95% residential areas under the coverage of ICT and Postal services, over 2 billion dollars are invested in the field of ICT, we are the owner of our own Satellite, income of ICT sector is growing day by day and deliver over 200 million dollars revenue to the government, around 200000 individuals have direct and indirect occupations in the field of ICT, Fiber Optic and 3G wireless internet services are in operation all around the country, we have converted Afghan television from analog system to digital, our domestic and international postal services are in sustainable activity. He continued: it is mentionable that MCIT connected numerous educational and medical institutes with internet services, we have designed and provided all technical support for electronic ID and will strongly continue to eradicate corruption completely by establishing e- government.
Subsequently, deputy (Fin&Adm) Minister of MCIT Mr. Wahabbudin Sadaat presented his presentation about the finance, administrative and HR affairs.
After that deputy IT Minister Mr. Amal Marjan also presented his brief information about the achievements of MCIT in the field of IT, consequently Khair Mohammad Faizi member of ATRA and Gul Ahmad Rastman gave their presentations.
At the end president’s special representative for reform and good governance H.E. Ahmad Zia Masood praising successes of MCIT and congratulated leadership and all staff of MCIT for their tangible achievements in his statement.
H.E. said: that your work and achievements are important and valuable and I appreciate your hardworking for the development of Afghanistan.
He said: that the issue of reform and good government is one of the essential issues of current condition of our life. Unfortunately, there are still very backward administrations, which work with procedures causing corruption.
He said: to offer significant service in the stage new government is formed, it is more important to start a profound reform in our government institutions.
Instructing valuable directions H. E. mentioned that MCIT has critical role in reform and administrative sections and social, economic areas of the country and is able to bring major revolution through the IT. At the end H .E Ahmad Zia Massod visited to National Data Center (NDC) and Printing press of electronic ID Cards.
