Minister Biography
Born in Urgun, Paktika province in 1949. Mr. Sangin attended primary school in Urgun and secondary in Gardiz. He graduated from grade 12 of Telecommunication Training Center securing first position. In 1973 he obtained his engineer’s degree from South London College
Mr. Sangin started working as an instructor in TTC in 1975 and continued up to 1978. During 1978 to 1980 he served as the Head of Telecommunications Training Center.
Amirzai Sangin was forced to leave Afghanistan in 1980 and become a refugee in Sweden. While in Sweden he obtained Bacheloriate in Swedish language in four months. A founding member of Swedish Committee for Afghanistan in Sweden, which has played a major role in helping Afghanistan in the education, agriculture and medical sectors during the last two and a half decades; Mr. Sangin actively took part in the development of SCA. In 1982 he joined Swedish Telecom. He worked with King Khaled International Airport in Saudi Arabia as the communications project team member from 1982 to 1985. For the next five years, up to 1990, he was involved in the design, development and implementation of mobile networks in Sweden. A founding member of Swedish Telecom International, now called Telia International; Sangin dynamically took part as a leading team member in international bids during 1990-2000, winning 8 GSM licenses in Estonia, Lativia, Russia, Hungary, Italy, Namibia and India. Mr. Sangin worked in many top management positions in the establishment of highly successful companies bringing billions of dollar revenue to Sweden. Mr Amir zai Sangin returned soon after 9/11 . Initially he carried out training for AWCC and MOC engineers. He headed the evaluation committee for the GSM license in 2002 in Ministry of Communications In February 2003 he started his work as the Senior Advisor to the Miniser of Communications. As the Senior Advisor he assisted with.
Mr Sangin was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Afghan Telecom in July 2004. As the Afghan Teelcom CEO his role has been vital in the establishment of AFTL, passing the decree and By Laws, and focusing on projects implementation. In addition to all this, Mr.Sangin has worked on building the Afghan Telecom organization, developing new processes and procedures, and concentrated on interconnection issues. |
